2017년 말에 발표된 U2의 새로운 정규 앨범 Songs Of Experience (Deluxe Edition)

이번 앨범은 U2의 팬들이라면 타이틀에서부터 이미 예측할 수 있듯이 2014년 9월에 발매된 전작 Songs of Innocence에 이어지는 연작 중 후반부분이다. 앨범은 Songs of Innocence 세션에서 처음으로 아이디어가 떠올랐다고 하는데, 전작이 U2 멤버들의 10대 시절인 1970년대의 아일랜드를 다루었던 것에 비해, 이번 앨범은 도중 자전거 사고로 심각한 부상을 당하기도 보노가 자신들의 주변인들에게 쓴 편지 모음을 모티브로 하고 있다고 전해진다. U2는 2015 Innocence + Experience Tour에서 본 앨범에 대한 작업을 시작했으며, 밴드 멤버들은 제작자와는 개별적으로 협업을 진행했다.
프로듀싱은 Jacknife Lee와 Ryan Tedder가 주도적으로 했으나, 그들 외에도 오랜 파트너 Steve Lillywhite를 비롯해 Andy Barlow, Jolyon Thomas, Brent Kutzle, Paul Epworth, Danger Mouse, Declan Gaffney 등이 트랙별로 제작에 참여했다. 또한 Haim, Kendrick Lamar, Lady Gaga 등 팝계 다양한 장르의 인기 실력파 뮤지션들도 게스트로 참여했다. 앨범의 커버에 등장한 2명은 바로 보노의 아들 Eli과 딸 Sian이다. Eli는 모국인 아일랜드의 더블린을 기반으로 2012년 Inhaler라는 록밴드를 결성해 밴드의 보컬리스트로 활동하고 있다. 사진은 밴드의 오랜 파트너인 유명 사진 작가 안톤 코빈(Anton Corbijn)의 작품이다
