브리티쉬 인디록씬의 전설 스미스(The Smiths)의 4번째이자 마지막 정규 앨범 Strangeways, Here We Come (1987년作)

전작 Queen Is Dead (1986) 이후 1년 3개월만에 발표한 작품으로 프로듀서 Stephen Street를 맞이해 밴드가 공동 프로듀싱을 했다. 전작들과 마찬가지로 모든 곡은 기타리스트 자니 마가 작곡하고 보컬리스트 모리시가 작사를 담당했다. 전반적으로 호평과 함께 "Girlfriend in a Coma", "I Started Something I Couldn't Finish", "Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me", "Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One" 등이 싱글 히트하고, UK 앨범차트 2위와 미국내 골드 레코드를 기록하는 등 성공을 거두었다. 이와 같이 여전히 밴드는 왕성한 창작력을 보여주고 있었으나, 아쉽게도 본 앨범을 마지막으로 스미스는 5년 남짓한 활동을 정리하게 되며, 모리시는 본격적으로 솔로 커리어를 시작한다. 하지만 1980-90년대 이후 현재까지 그들이 영국의 인디/모던록 밴드들에게 끼친 영향력은 누구와도 비교될 수 없을 정도로 막대하다.
