큐어의 많은 뛰어난 음반들 중에서도 자타공인 최고의 명반으로서 인정받는 앨범. 데뷔 10여년동안 골수팬들을 중심으로 독자적인 활동을 했던 그들이 마침내 미국을 비롯한 전세계 시장에서 이룬 쾌거!

큐어의 팬들이라면 누구나 알고 있는 최강의 싱글들인 Pictures Of You, Love Song, Lullaby, Fascination Street 등이 바로 본 앨범에서 나온 것이다. 또한 큐어로서는 다소 밝은 분위기로 대중적 사랑을 받은 이들 싱글이외에도 본 앨범에는 많은 보석들이 담겨 있다. 스매싱 펌킨스나 브릿팝, 드림팝 후배 밴드들에게 큰 영향을 준 그들의 트레이드 마크인 소위 고딕적이라고 불리우는 어둡고 우울하면서도 아름다운 불후의 명곡인 타이틀곡 Disintegration과 Prayers For Rain, The Same Deep Water As You 등 어느 하나도 버릴 곡이 없다. 로버트 스미스의 목소리만큼이나 몽환적인 느낌의 커버에서 느껴지듯 사실 이들의 음악은 뭐라고 딱히 장르로서 정의 내리기 어렵지만, 오히려 그것이 이들만의 독특한 색채로서 작용해 유행이라는 이름에 관계없이 여전히 사랑을 받게 만드는 힘일 것이다.
