현재 록씬에서 상당한 주목을 받고 있는 The Black Keys는 Dan Auerbach와 Patrick Carney로 이루어진 개러지/블루스 록 듀오로, 2000년대초 데뷔 초기에는 거의 무명에 가까웠으나 평단과 음악팬들으로부터 실력을 인정받고 주목할만한 밴드로 인정받으며 점차적으로 대중에게도 알려지기 시작했다. 본 앨범 Magic Potion은 2006년 9월 발표한 4번째 정규 앨범으로 Nonesuch Records로 이적 후 첫 작품이며, 대중들에게 좀더 알려지기 시작한 앨범이라 할 수 있다. 한편 밴드는 이번 앨범에서 처음으로 2명이 앨범 수록곡 전곡을 작곡했으며, 프로듀싱까지도 직접 처리했다. 전작에 이어 이번 앨범 역시 평단으로부터 호평을 받았으며, "Your Touch", "You're the One", "Just Got To Be" 등이 싱글 커트되며 대중적인 인기를 얻기 시작했고, 마이너 레이블임에도 불구하고 처음으로 빌보드 앨범차트 100위권내 진입과 영국과 호주에서도 앨범 차트에 오르는 등의 나름의 성과를 기록했다.
