Testament의 두번째 정규 앨범이자 80년대 스래시 메틀씬을 대표하는 명반 The New Order (1988)

The New Order는 미국 캘리포니아 베이 에어리어 출신의 대표적인 스래시 메틀 밴드, Testament가 1988년에 발표한 두번째 정규 앨범으로 데뷔 앨범 Legacy 등과 함께 팬들의 가장 큰 사랑을 받는 이들 최고의 앨범 중 하나이자, 1980년대 후반 스래시의 명반 중 하나로 손꼽힌다. 특히 본 앨범의 하이라이트라 할 수 있는 Trial by Fire와 Into The Pit, The Preacher는 이들의 초기 사운드를 정립하며, 메탈리카 등과는 또 다른 스래시 메틀의 매력이 응축된 곡들이다. 또한 선배 밴드 Aerosmith의 70년대 고전 Nobody's Fault를 커버한 스래시 메틀 버전 역시 흥미롭다. Testament는 본 앨범에 이어 Practice What You Preach를 내놓으며 당당히 메탈리카/메가데스 등을 이을 차세대 밴드로 인정받는다. Metallica의 2집 Ride The Lightning이나 Megadeth의 2집 Peace Sells와 마찬가지로 밴드에게는 매우 중요한 작품으로 Testament의 팬이라면 놓쳐서는 안될 작품.
