1990년에 결성되어, 크로스오버 얼터너티브 음악의 바람을 예고하기도한 뉴욕출신의 록밴드 스핀 닥터즈가 데뷔 앨범 Pocket Full of Kryptonite(1991)으로 미국내에서만 판매고 500만장 이상의 대성공 이후 발표한 라이브 앨범이다. 이들은 라이브 무대에서의 강자로 최근 데이브 매튜스 밴드가 그러하듯이 스핀 닥터즈는 독특하게 백인과 흑인이 혼합 구성되어 있다. 특히 리듬 섹션을 맞고 있는 멤버들의 탁월함도 어쩌면 거기서 오는 것일지도 모른다.
공식적으로 데뷔한지 얼마되지도 않은 상태였지만 라이브 실력을 듣고 있으면 앨범 몇장은 이미 내놓은 실력이 아닐까하는 놀라움을 감출 수 없다. 또한 본 앨범에는 데뷔 앨범의 곡들 뿐 아니라, 미발표 신곡들도 다수 포함되어 있다는 점도 매력이다. 기본적으로 락앤롤에 재즈와 블루스, 훵키인 어프로치를 양념으로 긍정적이고 밝은 메시지와 사운드를 들려주는데, 제목처럼 그루브가 뭔지 확실히 보여준다.
