극적 재결합으로 팬들을 기쁘게 해 준 픽시스가 공식 베스트 앨범과 함께 내놓은 최초의 오피셜 DVD 타이틀, PIXIES

최근 10여년만의 극적 재결합으로 팬들을 기쁘게 해 준 인디/얼터너티브록의 전설 픽시스(Pixies)가 재결합을 기념하며 공식 베스트 앨범과 함께 DVD를 발매했다. 픽시스는 음악팬들에게는 잘 알려져있듯이 일찌기 1980년대 중반부터 마이너 레이블을 통해 수많은 명반을 발표하는 등 얼터너티브록의 파이어니어로 인정받는다.
본 DVD에는 그들의 대표작으로 얼터너티브록의 효시이자 걸작으로 추앙받는 Come On Pilgrim EP(1987)와 정규 데뷔 앨범 Surfer Rosa(1988)를 내놓고 데뷔하던 시절인 20여년전인 1988년 당시의 풋풋했던 모습을 볼 수 있는 풀공연을 비롯해, 2집이자 이들의 전성기를 열며 나름대로 상업적 성공까지 거둔 Doolittle(1989) 이후 발표했던 그들의 진귀한 7개의 공식 뮤직 비디오, 그리고 재결합 이후 투어를 중심으로 최근의 모습을 볼 수 있는 다큐멘터리 On The Road와 이들에게 음악적 영향을 받은 많은 아티스트들의 인터뷰 등이 수록된 다큐멘터리 Gouge 등 다양한 콘텐츠들이 수록되어 있다. Gouge에는 Bono (U2), David Bowie 를 비롯해 Thom Yorke와 John Greenwood (Radiohead), Graham Coxon과 Alex James(Blur), Fran Healy와 Andy Dunlop (Travis), PJ Harvey 등 현재 모던록씬을 대표하는 뮤지션들을 중심으로 Pixies의 음악적 영향 등에 관한 인터뷰도 수록되어 있다. 이들의 팬들이라면 꼭 소장해야할 컬렉션이다.

The DVD also contains 'On the road' footage and 'Gouge', which shows several other artists commenting their own experiences of the Pixies and how the band influenced them.
