장르를 초월한 천재 아티스트 레니 크라비츠의 가장 록적인 앨범 Circus (1995년 作)

Circus는 빅히트를 기록한 Are You Gonna My Way 이후 2년만인 1995년에 발매된 통산 4번째 작품으로 레트로록의 제왕이자 지미 헨드릭스와 프린스를 잇는 다재다능한 싱어송라이터로 사랑받는 레니 크라비츠의 대표작 중 하나이다.
이번 앨범은 전체적으로 그가 가장 많은 음악적 영향을 받은 1960-70년대의 블루지하고 복고적인 정통 록 사운드를 기반으로하고 있다. 물론 다양한 장르를 소화해내는 크로스오버 뮤지션답게 R&B도 여럿 포함되어 있지만, 그의 여러 앨범들 중에서 가장 록적이라는 평을 받는다. 도발적인 제목으로 모던록 차트에서 빅 히트한 싱글 Rock and Roll Is Dead는 2집에 실려 사랑받은 Always On The Run이 생각나는 그루브 넘치는 록 넘버이다. 반면 Can't Get You off My Mind는 보컬리스트로서 레니 크라비츠의 또다른 매력을 한 껏 느낄 수 있는 R&B 발라드로 역시 차트에서 히트를 기록했다, 그외에도 앨범에는 타이틀곡이자 3번째 싱글인 Circus, Resurrection, Beyond the 7th Sky 등 주목할만 트랙들이 즐비하다.
