매력적인 여성 싱어송라이터이자 피아노록 스타 Tori Amos의 데뷔 10년을 정리하는 앨범

2000년대 들어와서 Ben Folds, Keane, Coldplay 등의 뮤지션들이 기타 중심이 아닌 피아노/건반 위주의 록사운드를 들려주며 성공을 거두었지만, 사실 엘튼 존 이후 오랜시간 끊겼던 피아노록의 대를 이은 것은 바로 90년대초 토리 에이모스가 등장하면서라고 할 수 있다. 그녀는 1990년대초부터 록계에서는 독특하게 피아노를 주로 이용해 자신만의 음악 세계를 만들고, Little Earthquake, Under The Pink, From the Choirgirl Hotel, Boys for Pele 등 여러 명반들을 발표하며 꾸준히 활동해오고 있으며, 본 앨범은 실력파 여성 싱어송 라이터로서 인정받고 있는 그녀의 데뷔 후 10여년간의 커리어를 정리하는 첫 앨범이다.
그녀는 본 앨범에 Best나 Greatest Hits라는 일반적인 타이틀을 사용하는 대신 "Tales Of A Librarian"라는 제목을 사용했는데, 이는 그녀가 본 앨범을 단순한 싱글 히트곡 집이 아닌 자신의 음악(소리)으로 만든 자서전의 개념으로 보고 있기 때문이다. 실제로 일반적으로 레코드회사가 작업하는 것과는 달리, 그녀가 직접 본 앨범의 선곡과 구성 등의 작업에 적극적으로 참여하기도 했다. 한편 앨범에는 기존의 정규 앨범에 수록곡 외에도 "Angels", "Snow Cherries from France", "Sweet Dreams", "Mary" 등 2곡의 미발표곡과 2곡의 B 사이드 레어 트랙이 추가되었으며, 보너스 DVD에는 2003년 라이브 3곡과 리믹스/연주곡 버젼이 수록되었다.
