유럽의 음악 강국 스웨덴이 배출한 90년대 최고의 팝록 밴드 카디건스(The Cardigans)의 첫 공식 베스트 앨범 "Best of Cardigans"

1992년에 데뷔해 2년만에 발표한 첫 앨범 Emmerdale (1994)을 발표한 카디건스는 Nina Persson의 개성적 보이스와 영미 음악에서는 찾아보기 어려운 상큼한 멜로디 라인을 트레이드마크로 하는 독창적인 사운드로 "Sick & Tired", "Rise & Shine" 등의 싱글을 히트시키며 당시 스웨덴 뿐 아니라 유럽, 일본 등 각국에서 크게 주목을 받기 시작한다.
이후 카디건스는 이들의 최대 성공작이자 대표작인 2집 "Life" (1995)을 통해 명실상부 세계적인 밴드로 확실한 자리매김을 하고, 국내에서도 이 때부터 상당한 인기를 모으기 시작했다. 2집에서는 "Carnival"을 비롯해 다수의 싱글을 히트시켰을 뿐만 아니라 음악적으로도 좀더 진일보하는 등 상업적, 음악적으로 1집을 뛰어넘는 성공을 거두었다.
세계적 지명도를 얻게된 이들은 이듬해 3집 "First Band on the Moon"(1996)을 발표하며 거침없는 성공가도를 달린다. 특히 당시 레오나르도 디카프리오 주연의 영화 로미오+줄리엣에 수록된 "Lovefool"은 카디건스 특유의 상큼발랄한 사운드로 전세계적인 히트를 기록한다. 1990년대 중후반 최고의 시기를 보낸 이들은 이후 4집 "Gran Turismo"(1998)까지 비교적 성공적인 결과를 얻고 이후 몇년간의 휴지기를 갖는다. 이후 2003년에는 5년만의 새로운 정규 앨범 "Long Gone Before Daylight"을 발표하고, 2년뒤 6집 "Super Extra Gravity"(2005)을 발표하며 건재함을 과시했다.
한편 본 앨범에는 데뷔 앨범부터 전성기 시절이었던 90년대 중후반의 작품들, 그리고 2000년대의 작품들까지 이들의 데뷔 이후 12년간 발표한 6장의 정규 앨범 가운데 총 22곡에 이르는 베스트 트랙들을 모았다. 이들의 역사를 한번에 잘 정리한 앨범이라 할 수 있다. 밴드는 본 앨범을 발표하며 다시 휴지기에 들어갔다가 2012년에 다시 활동을 시작했다.
