캐나다의 국보급 밴드이자 이제는 프로그레시브 록의 영원한 전설로 남게 된 Rush의 전성기를 대표하는 작품 Permanent Waves : 40th Anniversary 2CD Special Edition

수십여년간 트렌드의 변화에 관계없이 전세계 수많은 골수팬들을 보유하고 있으며, 드림 씨어터 등을 비롯해 수많은 후배 밴드들의 존경을 한몸에 받는 캐나다의 국보급 밴드 Rush의 통산 7번째 앨범 Permanent Waves (1980). 1980년 새해 첫날에 발표되며 80년대를 연 첫 작품 Permanent Waves는 빌보드 앨범차트 최고 4위에 오르며 플래티넘을 기록하는 등 Rush에게는 당시까지 최고의 기록을 세웠다. 물론 이러한 성공에는 빅히트 싱글 The Spirit Of Radio와 Freewill의 도움이 있었지만 앨범의 전체적인 완성도 역시 Rush의 명성에 부족함이 없으며, 게디 리, 알렉스 라이프슨, 닐 퍼트 등 천재 뮤지션 3명이 만들어내는 놀라운 사운드 역시 건재하다. 이번 앨범에는 3-4분대의 비교적 대중적인 곡들부터 9분이 넘는 대곡 Natural Science과 7분이 훌쩍 넘는 대곡 "Jacob's Ladder"까지 다양한 스타일의 곡들이 수록되어 있다. 본 앨범의 성공 이후 Rush는 Moving Pictures (1981), Signals (1982), Power Windows (1985), Presto (1989) 등의 명반을 쏟아내며 80년대 최고의 전성기를 보낸다.
