21세기 개러지록을 이끈 The White Stripes의 리더이자, The Raconteurs, The Dead Weather 등을 통해서 다양한 음악을 들려주는 천재 뮤지션 Jack White의 두번째 솔로 앨범 Lazaretto (2014)

미니멀한 구성이지만 누구보다 강렬한 정통록 사운드를 들려준 2인조 개러지 록밴드 The White Stripes을 이끌며 뛰어난 재능의 싱어송라이터이자, 출중한 기타리스트이며 프로듀서로서 당대 최고의 뮤지션으로 인정받은 Jack White. 그는 1999년 셀프 타이틀 앨범 The White Stripes로 데뷔한 이후 13년만인 2012년 발표한 첫 솔로 앨범 Blunderbuss가 음악적, 대중적으로 상당한 찬사를 받으며 큰 성공을 거두었다. 사실 그는 2008년 영화 007 퀀텀 솔라스의 수록곡으로 그가 직접 작곡과 보컬, 연주, 프로듀싱을 담당한 "Another Way to Die" 싱글 (이 곡에는 R&B 뮤지션 Alicia Keys가 듀엣으로 보컬에 참여했지만 실질적으로 그의 솔로곡이라 할 수 있다)을 통해 솔로 뮤지션으로서의 성공 가능성도 내비췄다.
2년만에 발표한 두번째 솔로 앨범인 Lazaretto 역시 전작에 이어 다시한번 US 앨범 차트 1위를 차지하는 기염을 토해냈고, 캐나다, 영국, 유럽 각지에서도 최상위권에 오르는 등 그가 속해 있는 여러 밴드 활동 이상의 성공을 거두었다. Jack White 스타일로 창조해낸 모던 블루스록과 개러지록을 기반으로 다양한 스타일의 곡들이 수록된 가운데 앨범에서는 첫 싱글 "High Ball Stepper"를 필두로 "Lazaretto", "Just One Drink", "Would You Fight for My Love?", "Alone in My Home", "That Black Bat Licorice" 등 앨범의 절반 이상이 싱글로 발매되는 등 개개 트랙의 완성도도 뛰어나다. 수록곡들은 고전 블루스 "Three Women Blues"로부터 영감을 받은 오프닝 트랙 "Three Women"을 제외하고 모두 그가 단독으로 작곡한 곡들이며, 제작에 있어서도 리드 보컬, 기타, 건반 파트는 물론 프로듀싱까지 담당했다.
