헤비메틀 불모지 프랑스를 대표하는 관록의 메탈 그룹 고지라(Gojira)의 2021년 신작 Fortitude

어느덧 데뷔 20주년을 맞이하는 프랑스 출신의 실력파 메틀 밴드 Gojira의 통산 7번째 정규 앨범 Fortitude를 발표했다. Magma (2016) 이후 무려 5년만에 선보이는 이번 앨범에서는 이들과 오랫동안 같이 했던 Joe Duplantier외에 슬레이어의 Reign in Blood (1986), South of Heaven (1988), 너바나의 Nevermind (1991)를 비롯해 RATM, Soulfly, Sevendust, Linkin Park, Disturbed, System Of A Down, Guns N' Roses, Dream Theater, Avenged Sevenfold, Biffy Clyro 등 수많은 거물급 뮤지션들의 명반들에 참여한 유명 엔지니어 Andy Wallace가 참여 한층 다크한 사운드를 들려준며 그런지와 포스트 펑크, 네오 싸이키델리그, 프로로그시브 메탈 등 온갖 장르는 아우르는 이들의 모든 음악성이 집결되었다.
원초적인 기타리프와 와일드한 그로울링이 돋보이는 ‘Born for One Thing’를 비롯하여 드라마틱한 사운드 메이킹이 일품인 ‘Hold On’ 그리고 초 스피트의 스레쉬 메탈 사운드를 들려주는 ‘Grind’ 등 11곡의 빼놓을 수 없는 작품이 수록되어 있다.
