Ben Folds Five의 리더 겸 싱어송라이터 벤 폴즈의 솔로 데뷔작 Rockin' The Suburbs (2001)

Rockin' The Suburbs는 美 노스 캐롤라이나 출신의 싱어송라이터 벤 폴즈(Ben Folds)가 2001년 발표한 작품으로, 그가 활동해 온 3인조 얼터너티브 인디록밴드 Ben Folds Five와는 별도로 제작한 첫 솔로 앨범이다. 뿔테 안경의 모범생적인 이미지와 건반(피아노)을 담당하며 싱어송라이터로 잘 알려진 벤 폴즈는 사실 1964년생으로 일찌기 80년대 말부터 뮤지션의 길을 걷기 시작한 베테랑급 뮤지션이다.
본 데뷔 앨범은 발매와 함께 큰 호평을 받았으며, 대중적으로도 Weezer 풍의 밝은 로큰롤 느낌의 타이틀곡 "Rockin The Suburbs"과 어린 아들에게 바치는 송가로 국내에서도 모 광고 음악에도 사용되며 알려진 곡 "Still Fighting It"가 꽤 히트하며 이후 그가 발표한 총 3장의 솔로 앨범들과 몇장의 라이브 앨범들 가운데 가장 널리 알려진 편이다. 특히 "Still Fighting It"는 벤 폴즈의 음악적 깊이를 잘 보여주는 앨범의 백미 중 하나이다. 그는 앨범에서 작곡, 노래와 건반은 물론 프로듀싱에 기타, 드럼, 베이스 등 대부분의 악기를 처리하는 등 뛰어난 재능을 보여주고 있다.
