유럽 멜로딕 메틀의 선구적 존재인 Helloween의 설립자로서 Helloween/Walls Of Jericho와 Keeper 시리즈 등의 걸작들을 만들어낸 기타리스트자 송라이터, 그리고 보컬리스트인 카이 한센. 그는 어린 시절 스스로 만든 밴드 Helloween이 세계적 성공을 거두는 순간, 갑작스럽게 탈퇴를 해버린다. 그리고 새롭게 만들어낸 밴드 Gamma Ray는 90년 첫 데뷔 앨범으로 Heading For Tomorrow를 제작하였다. 랄프 쉬퍼스를 보컬로 직접 프로듀서까지 맡았으며, 이후 감마 레이는 일회성 밴드가 아니라 현재까지 헬로윈에 버금가는 인기로 선의의 경쟁을 펼치며 꾸준히 활동해오고 있다. 그 이유 중의 하나는 바로 본 앨범이 훗날까지 튼튼한 기반이 되었기 때문일 것이다. 감마레이 팬들에게 현재까지 최고의 작품 중 하나로 손꼽히며, 이제는 Keeper 시리즈와 함께 초기 멜로딕 메틀의 고전으로 자리잡았다. 물론 본 작품이 그런 위치에 오르기까지는 카이의 뛰어난 재능과 노력외에도 다른 멤버들(특히 보컬 랄프 쉬퍼스)의 실력도 뛰어났기 때문일 것이다. 'Heading For Tomorrow(내일을 향해)'라는 제목처럼 카이의 도전과 야심이 드러난 작품으로, 타이틀곡 Heaven Can Wait를 비롯해 Lust For Life, Space Eater, Heading For Tomorrow 등 대부분의 곡들이 이제는 멜로딕 메틀의 고전이 되었다.
