프로그레시브 메틀의 지존, 드림 씨어터(DT)가 1999년 발표한 완벽한 컨셉 앨범으로서 DT의 디스코그래피에 또다른 걸작을 남기게 되었다. 수작들을 발표한 그들지만 역대 앨범 가운데 최고의 작품 중 하나로 손꼽힌다. 77분이 넘는 러닝타임에 크게 2개의 장(Act)과 12개의 씬(Scene)으로 구성되어 마치 한편의 뮤지컬을 보는듯하다. 전체적인 구성력, 개개의 곡 수준, 멤버들의 연주력과 레코딩 등 모든 면에 있어 그들의 최고 작품이 아닐까 싶다. 자질 구레한 설명보다 그들의 사운드와 가사를 직접 음미해보는 것이 백번 빠른 길일 것이다. 더불어 본 앨범의 성공을 기념하며 발매된 라이브 앨범 Live Scenes from New York도 강력 추천하는 바이다.
