美 펜실베니아 출신의 실력파 프로그레시브 메틀 밴드 쉐도우 갤러리의 1995년 명반 "Carved In Stone"

Shadow Gallery (쉐도우 갤러리)는 1985년 펜실베니아에서 원래 "Sorcerer"라는 이름으로 결성된 프로그레시브 메틀 밴드이다. 1991년 프로그레시브 록/메틀 전문 레이블인 Magna Carta Records와 계약을 체결한 밴드는 1992년 데뷔 앨범 "Shadow Gallery"를 발표하며 주목 받고, 이후 여러장의 수작 앨범들을 발표하며 평단과 프로그레시브 팬들 사이에서는 상당한 인지도와 평가를 받고 있다. "쉐도우 갤러리"라는 밴드명은 2000년대 영화로도 만들어진바 있는 앨런 무어의 그래픽 노블 "V for Vendetta"로부터 영향을 받은 것으로 알려져 있다.
본 앨범은 데뷔 앨범 후 3년만인 1995년에 발표된 그들의 2번째 정규 앨범으로 그들의 앨범들 가운데 대표작으로 인정받고 있다. 특히 마지막 곡이자 앨범의 백미라 할 수 있는 "Ghostship"은 거의 30분에 육박하는 대곡으로 총 8개의 파트로 구성되어 있다. 한편, 데뷔 앨범이 정식 드러머 없이 4인조 + 세션 형태로 발표한 것에 비해 이번 앨범은 "Gary Wehrkamp"(건반, 기타)와 "Kevin Soffera"(드럼)가 가입하며 6인조로 레코딩되었으며, 보다 타이트하고 완성도 높은 사운드를 들려주고 있다.
