프로그레시브 메틀계의 역사를 쓰고 있는 독보적 존재, 드림 씨어터의 역대급 신보 A View From The Top Of The World [Deluxe Edition]

지난 30여년이 넘는 세월 동안 프로그레시브 메틀씬의 선봉에서 멈춤 없이 묵묵히 자신들의 길을 걸어오며 리더로서의 역할을 해 온 드림 씨어터가 신보 A View From The Top Of The World를 발표했다. 이전 앨범 Distance over Time (2019) 이후 2년 8개월만의 새로운 스튜디오 앨범이자, 이들의 통산 15번째 정규 앨범이다. 본 앨범은 또한 자신들이 직접 만든 전용 스튜디오 DTHQ (Dream Theater Headquarters)에서 레코딩되어 발표한 첫 작품이기도 하다. 프로듀서는 전과 마찬가지로 존 페트루치가 담당하고 있으며, 믹싱과 마스터링 작업에는 존의 두번째 솔로 앨범 Terminal Velocity (2020)에 참여했으며 영국의 전설적 스래시/프로그레시브 메틀 밴드 Sabbat과 現 Hell의 기타리스트이자 2000년대 가장 핫한 프로듀서이자 엔지니어인 앤디 스닙(Andy Sneap)이 처음으로 참여했다.
이번 A View from the Top of the World 앨범은 전작 Distance over Time (2019) 발표 후 약 1년 뒤인 2020년초부터 시작되었는데 이는 통상적인 수준보다 빠른 것으로, 당시 갑작스럽게 발생한 전세계적인 코로나 팬더믹 사태로 인해 모든 투어 공연들이 취소된 것이 직접적인 영향을 준 것이라고 한다. 한편 2020년 10월부터 2021년 3월까지 레코딩 작업을 마친 밴드는 8월 앨범의 첫 싱글로 "The Alien"을, 이어서 최근에는 두번째 싱글 "Invisible Monster"을 발표했다. "The Alien"은 2022년 그래미에서 Best Metal Performance 부문을 수상했다.

This acts as their first album to be recorded at their own studio, DTHQ (Dream Theater Headquarters), and their first since Black Clouds & Silver Linings (2009) to include fewer than nine tracks. Additionally, it is their first album since Dream Theater (2013) to both contain a track of at least ten minutes in length and end with the longest track.
